Chaileapedia documents the ingredients of natural soap — carrier oils, essential oils and botanical actives — by their INCI names, with the chemistry, history and cited sources behind each one. It is written to inform, not to sell.
Chaileapedia grew out of the ingredient research behind Chailea's cold-process soaps, made in Rize on Türkiye's Black Sea coast by ChaiNovi Sanayi Ticaret Ltd. Şti. The Turkish library lives at chailea.com/chaileapedia; this site carries the same reference work in English, German, French, Russian, Arabic and Spanish.
Each ingredient is named by its official INCI term and Latin binomial — the same names printed on a product label — so an entry maps exactly to what is in the bar.
Chemistry, mechanism and history are drawn from peer-reviewed literature and CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review) safety assessments, and written in measured, hedged language.
Every entry is researched and documented by a single MSc chemist, for consistency and accountability from one article to the next.
An entry earns its place by adding something beyond the textbook definition: a mechanism explained clearly, a fatty-acid profile that decides how a bar behaves, a saponification value, a documented history, or a safety note grounded in the literature. Where a figure or claim appears, its source is named — DOI, PubMed/PMC, CIR, or a recognised reference. Numbers that cannot be sourced are removed rather than guessed.
